"I fear we shall never see another Tozer. Men like him are not college-bred but Spirit-taught." Leonard Ravenhill, 20th century British evangelist.

Pastor A. W. Tozer, author of the Christian classics The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy, was a complex, intensely private, deeply spiritual man, and a gifted preacher whose impact for the kingdom of God is immeasurable. In this thoughtful biography, bestselling author Lyle Dorsett traces Tozer's life from his humble beginnings as a Pennsylvania farm boy to his heyday as a Chicago pastor--when hundreds of college students would travel to his South Side church to hear him preach and thousands more heard his Sunday broadcasts on WMBI. Eventually, he came to his final pastorate in Toronto.

From his conversion as a teen to his death in 1963, Tozer remained true to one passion: to know the Father and make Him known, no matter what the cost. The price he paid was loneliness, censure from other, more secular-minded ministers of the times, and even a degree of estrangement from his family. Read the life story of a flawed but gifted saint, whose works are still impacting the world today.

Ok
It was ok. It was a bio of someone who didn't sound very likable, even if he was a good influence.

challenging and encouraging biography
Good overview of the life and ministry of a relatively unknown but godly man. One of the things I liked is that it didn't sugar-coat his life (particularly his marriage), but gave a sense of his passion for God.

A Blessing!
Many love A.W.Tozer! I am one of them. But...I think we idolize people too much, because we look for heroes without faults. The Bible and this bio present the honest truth about those who trust in God, but who also fail in many ways, as we all do. Jesus is the only star here, he's the only super hero, he's the only one to idolize, he's only one to worship! A blessing!

I feel I know Tozer now
As somebody who is yet to discover the works of this great saint, I feel I have acquired a true portrait of him through listening to this book. Well read, too. Highly recommended.

Brilliant
This tells the life of the wonderful man of God, A.W.Tozer. It does so without favour, he tells it as it is. Worthwhile for all Christians of every age. It is the real deal and shows what it is to be committed to the Lord. A must hear or read!

Spiritually challenging
I was raised reading Tozer's works, given that I grew up in Ohio and pastored in CMA churches. Tozer's A Passion for God is a must read classic, for anyone wanting to draw closer to God!

Well written but not what I expected
First off, I thrive for audio books. I commute and audio books allow me to make great use of 2 hrs of driving per day.

The book is well written albeit doesn't quite fulfill the name or the preface. A.W. Tozer was a great man of God who did have a passion for God above all else. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like the book fully expressed this passion. The story is a biography that covers his entire life yet focuses quite a bit on his family relationships which cast a shadow over A.W. Tozer that contrasts his accomplishments, desires, and passions.

Furthermore, while the story is well read, the reader is very monotone with no background noise. I felt like I was sitting in a lecture hall which commands sleep, something you don't want while driving to or from work on a long commute.

Superb recorded book of a great man of God
This is a wonderful unbiased book of the life of A.W.Tozer. It gives an insight to a brilliant man of God. It demonstrates how God prepares a person to serve him in the highest capacity. It also shows the commitment required. How desperate this world needs leaders of the quality and spiritual commitment of A.W.Tozer.
