Medicine for the mind, body and soul!!

This audio version is fantastic! I admit that I purchased it to laugh and to get a little relief to some stressful situations in my life. It worked! I was really surprised how I was encouraged and inspired as I read it, which was totally unexpected. What I shortly discovered was a book that was medicine to my mind, body and soul. I picked something else up as I was reading through it, then went back and confirmed it. Tyndale did a great job incorporating a spiritual dimension through sections on "Faith" that build one upon another from Chuck's Creator to his confessions and creeds, a clear unfolding apologetic that just deepens progressively to #101. Observe the unfolding faith from #11, #35, #44, #54, #64, #72, #79, #83, #90, and #101. I couldn't help but think how this would make a good gift for those I know who aren't spiritual or too reluctant to read more "obvious" spiritual books. I highly recommend this book.

Carol Chase says:

This book is hilarious and inspirational! NO JOKE! I found the most engaging part of the book is the diversity of stories in the 101 entries, from Norris's martial arts, movies and television careers to his encounters with notables and others all around the world. My favorites are how he wrestled and got bit by a snake on "Walker, Texas Ranger," and how he had to use a real rat (instead of a fake one) for a stunt in one of his Missing in Action movies in which he had to hold the rat in his mouth for several minutes while hanging upside down from a rope!

The stories also include intimate details of his personal life, from family, love and marriage, faith and even his daily workout plan and diet. He discusses how he was able to overcome the effects of an alcoholic violent father, abject poverty and the many hurdles on his way to become world karate champion and an award-winning actor. Particularly moving are his tributes to his mother and brother Wieland, who died in 1970 in the Vietnam War.

Chuck conveys insights into (and funny stories about) his relationships with other legends like Bruce Lee, Elvis Presley and many other movie stars, sports figures and cultural icons. Lastly, many entries are inspirational and educational on a host of subjects, from America's origins to fitness and finances and overcoming various obstacles in life. In almost every entry, Chuck encourages his readers to keep striving to be their best, physically, mentally and spiritually. And he uses his five core values (fight, family, faith, fitness and freedom) to motivate them.

This book is the PERFECT Christmas gift, white elephant gift, stocking stuffer, or just an evangelistic tool to leave on the coffee table or in the bathroom. Who won't pick it up and read it?? You'll be surprised how Chuck weaves his testimony throughout this book. Buy it! Buy 10 for others!

You don't have to agree with all of Chuck Norris' opinions on God and politics to enjoy this title. The ridiculousness of the "facts" about Chuck are coupled with the hilarious lengths Norris goes to craft a correlating, yet, authentic life story and axiom. Towards the end, the tales and principles begin to blur together, but it is worth it. I found myself laughing out throughout the book, and moved almost to tears by some of Chuck's generous actions. I am one of those that doesn't agree with Chuck much of his politics but his sincerity and ability to not take himself too seriously cannot be debated and are to be respected. Johnny Heller's narration only adds to the audio experience. From the start, Heller makes it seem almost as if Clint Eastwood was reading to you. Can it get any better than that!?
