"A young man who wishes to remain a strong atheist cannot be too careful of his reading" - C.S. Lewis

"In these pages I have attempted in a vague and personal way, in a set of mental pictures rather than a series of deductions, to state the philosophy in which I have come to believe. I will not call it my philosophy; for I did not make it. God and humanity made it; and it made me."

Chesterton's Orthodoxy makes Christian apologetics both compelling and delightful. Here is equilibrium of the mind's reason, the soul's imagination, and the belly's laughter!

Ryan Bouton says:

A truly phenomenal book and author, easily classed with Lewis or Augustine for the beauty of the language and the spiritual insight of the writer. Simon Vance, as reader, is simply perfect, bringing the personality and vitality of Chesterton alive again.

Mike Eustis says:

The marriage of Chesterton and Simon Vance is one of the great couplings in recent audio history. One can smell the hot tea and feel the leather chair as Simon becomes Chesterton. Chesteron, the Prince of Paradox sets out to show how he went off to start his own "heresy" only to find that it had existed for 1800 years..in a thing called Christianity.

Chesterton in a series of personal reflections answers all the anti christian sentiments with great wit and panache. Chesterton takes on H.G. Wells and his Outline of History as well as gently pointing out the errors in his good friend Benard Shaw's philosoph

All along Simon Vance voice keeps you wanting to continue listening to the next disc...an amazing reading without a doubt..

Vance does it again!!

This was a very fun book to listen to! Chesterton has a very unique way of communicating. The word "orthodoxy" is a very dull drab word to title a book with, but once you get into the book you will find it anything but.

Othodoxy is technically an apoligetic and testimonial work. I say this because Chesterton tells his own story of how he, as an athiest, searches for the truth. First he was turned from atheism by reading atheists. Next in his search for truth he reasons that "this must be true of God". He then finds that Christianity already preached that truth.

When I listened to this book I had to listen to each chapter twice in order to catch much of the meaning, but this was far from being a chore. I truly enjoyed every moment I spent with Chesterton and would highly recomend "Othodoxy" to anyone!
