John Bunyan was a simple maker and mender of pots and kettles who received very little education. In spite of that, he penned the most successful allegory ever written. He lost his first wife and was imprisoned for twelve years for his compelling—but unlicensed—preaching. Nevertheless, his preaching about the gravity of sin, salvation by grace, the cost of discipleship, perseverance, and the glory of eternal life lives on in the signs and symbols of The Pilgrim’s Progress. Embark on a perilous journey with Christian, the lead character, from the City of Destruction to the luminous safe haven of the Celestial City. The journey will encourage you to “set your hope fully on the grace to be given you” amidst the obstacles of life.

This is a wonderful recording of an enduring classic. Ms. May's voice is very similar to that of Lauren Bacall--in fact, as a movie buff, at first I thought that's who it was! Her reading is masterly and captivating. She is completely at home with the rhythms of Elisabethan English.

For those who enjoyed Ms May's reading of the Pilgrim's Progress, I can recommend her recording of Pride and Prejudice as well.

By far the best recording of Pilgrim's Progress I've ever heard.

I can’t recommend this book highly enough. The conversation of the various characters in this allegory is packed with Scripture and it will help any reader assess the genuineness of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The book is wonderfully read by Nadia May who uses a variety of voices to distinguish between the various characters in the story. This is probably one of the top ten books I have ever read.

I'm sure there's a special category of transgression for this - but at 39 I'm only reading/listening to this for the first time. I downloaded it because, well, because it was free, and I was interested out of curiosity.

I was a little apprehensive about the archaic English. I need not have been. I'm finding this classic personally convicting, not least of all because of the fantastic narration by Nadia May. I've not heard her before, but she's versatile and engaging, bringing this old English book to life. I thoroughly recommend this edition.
