- A Vampire Tale with a Christian Spin Review by JP
If you have read The Circle Series, you will know of Dekker's fascination with blood. Here he unleashes the legend of Transalvania like never before. Complete with his usual contrast of raw human passions that haunt our imagination, Dekker probes the heart as his character seeks to find a path of redemption and salvation. Unfortunately, here, I don't think Dekker delivers. Great story, it just left me thinking that he should have done something different with the climactic conclusion. Perhaps I'm being too critical.
There is however, one thing that does, that did, bother me. In fiction, language and cultural context becomes a critical connection for the imagination. When 21st century terminology is used in an old world setting, it immediately distracts the reader. I've seen this with Francine rivers and other best selling authors. Perhaps we need some better editors?
