I'm not a huge fan of The Message, out of personable preference rather than principle. But I've found listening to it is quite enjoyable. I find certain sections better rendered than others, but it is certainly fresh.
The narration on this audio Bible is very good and the chapter markers in the M4B version make it very useful - I've been able to use it to catch up my daily reading schedule.

- I've long been a NASB/NKJV/ESV literal... Review by Jon Winslow
I've long been a NASB/NKJV/ESV literal Bible translation guy. Arrogance almost had me sneering at the Message and Living Translations, I found this easy because nobody intent on studying could really use those translations I insisted. It was curiosity that moved me to buy the Message and listen to it. I was shocked in the introduction to hear Eugene Peterson calmly emphasize that the Message wasn't for study at all. Instead His purpose was to make the Bible sound fresh by setting it in modern language. Long story short I have loved the Message as I continue to listen to it. The recording and readers do an excellent job on a reading of the Bible that had made me laugh, think, and praise God. The files are rather large (sometimes covering multiple smaller books), but if you're just listening to it - then this poses no problem. Enjoy and be uplifted as God's word comes to you in a way you never quite heard it before.

- The Message translation really flows well... Review by Ben McBride
The Message translation really flows well when read aloud, it's like listening to a story in modern language. The readers are excellent, and the book introductions are enlightening. The best audio Bible I've had the pleasure to hear! Highly recommended.

I have enjoyed listening to The Message - the translation really gets you thinking through familiar passages of scripture and you are going "does it really say this?" - well, yes sort of. sometimes.
However the reading of the old testament is on occasion read to fast. And the loud music on the introductions to the books makes it almost impossible to follow the reading. Really annoying.

By now, it is safe to assume that everyone is familiar with The Message and knows what to expect from the text, so I will not comment on that.
My biggest concern when making this purchase was that I wanted to be able to find specific passages. I was happy to find that the files download with the Book and Chapters listed in the subtitle. This is of great help when you want to search through in an effort to listen to a specific portion.
