Excellent - well worth the listen
The most captivating of the many audio books I've enjoyed from ChristianAudio! Really loved it and felt immersed in the story. It helped me to imagine what it would have been like to be part of the crowd in those days. Well done! The chap reading the Clavius chapters had one or two funny mannerisms regarding pronunciation but you get used to it pretty quickly

Titillation, not inspiration
What a mammoth disappointment. For those who enjoy Harlequin-style romance novels, the steamy love making episodes between the Roman soldier and the young Jewish widow in "Risen" will titillate the taste buds. Unfamiliar with the book or the movie, I downloaded the free audio version from ChristianAudio in July (soooo glad I didn't pay for it). Please forgive me, I have to admit that I haven't listened to the whole book - couldn't get past chapter 14. Just one of several bed scenes, the chapter begins with the Roman soldier (Clavius) and the young Jewish widow (Rachel) in bed together on a rooftop. Laying next to him, she answers a question he rhetorically asks the heavens about why a god would demand such sacrifice by the death of a man. She quotes Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your lives; it is the blood that makes atonement because of the life." While listening to her, he "drinks in her beauty," "trails his hand down the side of her warm throat." The conversation between them becomes a bit testy on the subject and she gets out of bed. She asks, “What do you wish?” "I wish you would stop seeking messiahs and come back to bed!" She does.

Did you catch the sad irony? The chapter starts with them in sexual sin - she quotes a passage regarding the necessity of the shedding of blood to atone for sin (even while they are in sin mind you) - leaves the bed momentarily, but climbs back in on his wish to continue with their sin.

“Risen” has fallen. I'm out.

Amazing book
This book was so awesome. I listened to it for almost three days straight every free moment and I could not put it down. It made me so much more in love with Jesus and his word. The author did an amazing job with details in a way I could picture then in my mind. I have already gotten my mom to sign up for this app and she can't wait to get started on this audio book. (Risen). I made a decision almost two months ago to give up television because the programs hanger so many things against my morals beliefs and values. I decided to commit my free time in the word or watching port listening to Godly things that would help me show him honor and build up my spirit. When I found this book it did exactly that which compelled me to start talking to everyone the past few days about Jesus. I'm so appreciative of this book and anyone who gets it will not be sorry they did!!!
