The apostle Paul gave the gospel the first place in his preaching, endeavored with all his might to proclaim it clearly, and even went so far as to pronounce a curse upon all those who would pervert its truth. Yet how sad it is that many, even among those considering themselves evangelicals, have reduced the gospel message to a few trite statements to be repeated, and view conversion as a mere human decision. In The Gospel Call and True Conversion, Paul Washer challenges such easy believism as he examines the real meaning of things like faith, repentance, and receiving Christ. He also deals extensively with the effects of saving grace that God promises in the new covenant; namely, the creation of new hearts and new people.

How to batter the lost into submission.
If you use a hammer to share the Word of God like Jonah did in Nineveh, then this is the book for you! On the other hand, if you try to encourage the lost like the Apostle Paul did on Mars Hill by describing your understanding of God in ways you audience can identify with, understand, and eventually accept, this book will identify you as a blasphemer. A short synopsis of "The Gospel Call And True Conversion": We are supposed to approach the lost, unchurched, and any other stranger with the message of "You are a piece of garbage and God does not need you or want you, but He demands you bow to him and praise him now because He is God, you dirty dog!"

Painful to listen to
I appreciate Paul Washer, but the reader of this book makes the book incredibly boring to listen to. Another reviewer refers to the reader as "an uninteresting monotone...disinterested professional reader" - I couldn't agree more except "professional" may be a stretch. To fast, to flat. I have heard better readers on Librivox.com (a free site for audiobooks). So, 1 star for the reader; 4 stars for the content.
