Like any other teenage boy, Austin loves pizza, movies, dancing, and girls. But unlike most other eighteen-year-olds, he has a rare brittle-bone disease, was locked in a mental ward as a child, and is autistic. Yet Austin doesn’t let any of that stop him.

His is a world where suffering a broken back is a minor inconvenience and the quest for the ultimate strawberry shake just might be the best day of his life.

Written with remarkable candor by Austin’s father, Scott, and New York Times best-selling author Susy Flory, The Unbreakable Boy weaves the beautiful and often humorous tale of how Austin teaches his father—and everyone else he encounters—to have faith in God and trust that one day life’s messes will all make sense.

Austin’s journey dares us all to believe that miracles are possible, that hope does spring eternal, and that we can find joyous moments to celebrate every day.

Uplifting
Lloyd James brings the story to life and makes you relive the life of Austin and his family. I am presently listening to the book as i type which is about the 5th time since i purchase this audio book. It is on my Iphone and am thankful for a job that i can actually have the pleasure of listening to my audio books while i work. This story of Austin touches the consciousness of anyone who knows about unconditional love and hope that it teaches anyone who does not know how to love unconditionally. And for anyone who has Autism or a Child with Autism, I have a new respect for you. I highly recommend this book.
Thank God each day for what you have, if you are "Natural" .

A Remarkable Boy
The Unbreakable Boy by Scott Michael LeRette is a remarkable true story of a boy born with both autism and a very rare form of brittle bone disease and the family that raised him through good times and bad. It is an inspiring, moving and courageous tale of an incredible boy who didn't let outward problems stop him from living.

There are plenty of funny moments but also the fair share of heart wrenching moments and bones were broken and things went horribly wrong but through it all this family's faith in God brought them through. The openness and honesty portrayed is so refreshing and makes the book even more encouraging.

I absolutely loved this book because this boy has every reason in the world to just give up but he is such a fighter and he seems to be living life much better than people who have everything going for them. It is an amazing story and I am sure a very challenging and heart wrenching one for the parents who want to keep their boy safe while still exploring and having fun.

The narration was really good as it wasn't the author that was reading it but it certainly sounded like he understood the flow and emotions of the book and was able to convey them effectively. It was also clear and made listening effortless.

This book would be great for any parents who have children that they are really struggling to parent due to their child having physical, mental or emotional disabilities that make the already difficult interactions even more tricky.
