An overview of the challenges and opportunities that Christians encounter when communicating and defending the gospel in our postmodern era. The course deals with the basic ideas and methods of apologetics, focusing on both theory and practice. The course aims to prepare pastors, professionals and lay people to give an intelligent, persuasive and attractive account of their faith. Core themes include exploring postmodern territory; appealing to reason and the imagination; the use of role models in apologetics (Schaeffer, Lewis, Tolkien); the use of stories and the visual arts in apologetics; and practical advice on how best to prepare apologetic talks and deal with questions afterwards.
