Does prayer make any difference? Does it really change anything? Yes, says Dr. R. C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. Though we cannot hope that our prayers will change God's mind, prevailing upon Him to act against His will, we can be sure that prayer does change things including our own hearts. Plus, it is one of the chief means by which God carries out His will in the world. For these reasons, Dr. Sproul argues, prayer has a vital place in the life of the Christian. In short chapters packed with practical wisdom, he unveils the purpose, the pattern, the practice, the prohibitions, and the power of prayer, calling Christians to come before God's presence with joy and hope.

Very Good Teaching, Great Start to Knowing Prayer
Quite dry reading, but the teaching is sound and reverent and is good for us to hear. If you are seeking a good, fresh start to building your prayer life, start with this book to give you a good understanding of the purpose, power, and other topics of prayer.

"As the deer pants for water, so I long for you, O God (Psalm 42:1)." May I, too, long for God more earnestly, zealously. May my attitude towards prayer change from reluctance and laboriousness to thankfulness, boldness (godly boldness [see Hebrews]), and earnestness knowing that my prayers take much time and energy and are well worth the sacrifice since we know full well that God cares for His people and that "the prayers of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16)".
