Get out! Run! We must leave this place! They are going to destroy this whole place! Go, children, run first! Go now!
These were the final shouts nine year-old Kim Phuc heard before her world dissolved into flames―before napalm bombs fell from the sky, burning away her clothing and searing deep into her skin. It’s a moment forever captured, an iconic image that has come to define the horror and violence of the Vietnam War. Kim was left for dead in a morgue; no one expected her to survive the attack. Napalm meant fire, and fire meant death.
Against all odds, Kim lived―but her journey toward healing was only beginning. When the napalm bombs dropped, everything Kim knew and relied on exploded along with them: her home, her country’s freedom, her childhood innocence and happiness. The coming years would be marked by excruciating treatments for her burns and unrelenting physical pain throughout her body, which were constant reminders of that terrible day. Kim survived the pain of her body ablaze, but how could she possibly survive the pain of her devastated soul?
Fire Road is the true story of how she found the answer in a God who suffered Himself; a Savior who truly understood and cared about the depths of her pain. Fire Road is a story of horror and hope, a harrowing tale of a life changed in an instant―and the power and resilience that can only be found in the power of God’s mercy and love.

Absolutely wonderful book. Doesn't pull any punches regarding violence but uplifting at the same time.
Overall - Great story, great devotional material, exquisite narration
-
Really exceeded my expectations.
A bit unconventional, but so Christ-centred.
And overall just a great story, really edifying in the faith, not just fun.
And the narration is truly the best one I've heard in my life. The pronunciation, the intonation, everything.Overall - Show ALL Reviews

This was actually my first book that I listened to on Christian audio. It was offered for free, so I thought I'd give it a listen. I was NOT disappointed! I became immersed in the story as I listened while walking my dog. I learned so much about the Vietnam war/conflict and what the Vietnamese dealt with. I especially appreciate her coming to Christ - not an easy road! Definitely listen to this one!
Overall - Incredible!!!! Encouraging!
-
One of the most incredible stories I have ever heard. It was so inspiring and faith building to see how God worked in Kim''s life from the agony of her constant pain to the oppressive government she lived under. Hope and encouragement for anybody who is suffering. I have told all my friends and family about this audio book!
Overall - Great book everyone should read it or listen to it!

Loved the audio version! Couldn't stop listening!
Overall - Well written political statement.
-
Well written, but with an consistent undertone of political leftism. How could anyone believe that being a UNESCO ambassador is a neutral position?

One of my favourite audiobooks ever and I didn't want it to end. Household chores flew by whilst this was playing! Made me praise God for the trophy of grace that Kim Phuc is and how her life illuminates his Word. It is very accessible and low on jargon so could be read by seasoned saints and unbelievers alike. Thank you, Christian Audio, good choice!

Fascinating story on so many levels. I remember seeing this picture when I was a child and now to learn this amazing details behind it was a powerful story of faith was profound.
Overall - An amazing story of how God can use a nobody for His glory.
-
An amazing story of how God works in ways that we do not expect. Nothing is wasted with a God who chooses to use unworthy human beings for His glory in a way that is so loving and amazing. God can also work in our lives if we let him. God Uses what is nothing in the world to bring to nothing that which Is.

I have often seen this haunting picture and heard snippets of Kim's story. This book lays it all out in such an incredibly descriptive manner, one cannot help but ache with Kim through the pages. We have had the privilege of having Kim in our church and she definitely is the sweet woman described in her book. A must read!
Overall - Absolutely Love this book!!!

Absolutely loved this book. Yes! I’ve seen this iconic photograph before, ...never read about the details. It was awesome to catch up with that girl and to know she’s not only alive, but alive in Christ!!, She is victorious through Christ!!! What a journey!!! Praise the Living God!!!
Overall - Absolutely wonderful and inspirational. Fantastic for anyone struggling with forgiveness.
-
This book is absolutely wonderful! Thank you sooo much Kim Phuc for sharing your story and for being such an inspiration. A huge thank you to Emily Woo Zeller too. It was read with so much feeling and 'realness'. One of the best audio books I have heard - content and audio.
Overall - Genuine story of suffering, faith, forgiveness and blessing

The genuineness of Kim shines throughout this book. Her great suffering. How she got saved. Her heartless persecution by the communists. God's answers to prayer. Her forgiveness.
My 2 favorite parts are: 1) When her mother, who had disowned her due to Kim's conversion, comes to visit her in Canada and eventually realizes, Kim, Your God is the real God.
Also, how she reacted when her $20k savings for her sons' college was stolen by a trusted friend in Canada.
This book will enrich your life.Overall - Wonderful
