flat narration
This book is about how to discover your personal faith in G-d and leave behind a borrowed faith, “as seen in the major motion picture Grace Unplugged.”

The book begins with telling of the Prodigal Son. After briefly summarizing the tale while providing a bit of “backstory” to the culture, the authors use this parable to show the love of G-d as the father in the tale originally told by Y’shua. The authors use this to show how the book is not about accusing, but rather about benefitting. It is designed to help readers, or listeners, determine their own faith in G-d, from a biblically-based perspective.

From an audiobook point of view, the narration is pretty well made. Read with inflective pauses and changes in intonation to reflect the grammatical structure of the book, the only challenge is the rate of pace – not giving enough pause between points to reflect on. Nevertheless, the DiMarco team does a fair job with the narration. It is obvious, however, that it is an audiobook narration. There is a certain flatness to the reader, as if based in an academic setting, that causes the listener to potentially lose attention because the material no longer feels personalized, but mass produced.

Take Ownership Of Your Faith
Own It by Hayley DiMarco and Michael DiMarco is a very good resource on taking your faith seriously and making sure it is your own not faith that is inherited or borrowed. The book opens with various different forms of faith based on the parable in the Bible ranging from using their parent's faith and borrowing faith to fully owning their faith.

It is a very challenging book even for someone like myself who has been a Christian for many years. It asks the tough questions about your faith and makes sure that it is owned not just something for Sundays when everyone is looking.

The narration was quite good as it had the authors reading it and they conveyed the emotion and tone intended. Side note: Hayley sounded very much like Toni Collette's character in the TV series Hostages, which I found quite amusing.

This book is a good book for unbelievers, new Christians or Christians struggling to commit to their faith as it has a strong message behind it that encourages them to completely commit to their faith in Jesus Christ.
