True Story of Courage and Compassion in a School Under Siege

As 870 children waited in fear, their elementary school rushed into lockdown mode. As the nation faced yet another Sandy Hook story of tragedy, one woman rewrote the ending.

Yet the story doesn't start with those first steps Michael Hill took into that Atlanta elementary school. It starts with Antoinette Tuff, a woman who faced her own pain, hurt, and rejection, yet held onto grace, faith, and hope. A hope that anchored her in the most high stakes of moments, a grace that allowed her to empathize with a hurting young man, and a faith that gave her the courage to love him back from the brink.

This is more than just the amazing account of tragedy averted. It's the evidence of what we can do when we allow ourselves to be used by God. And it's a story of how God uses all of our life experiences--the good and the bad--to prepare us for our own moment of divine purpose.

Someone God can use
The level of truth in this book is outstanding. She does not force anything into a message, but the message come out.
One thing I learned from this is not to judge others. I do not know how serious is that person's dedication to God, putting me to shame.
Her personal story is even more inspiring than the story of the 2 hours with the gunman.
I would prefer that the story not go back and forth between the gunman and her past life. Tell us part of the gunman story at the beginning as a hook and then just go chronologically. It would be easier to follow.
Still an inspiring book by a present day real life humble inspiring person.

Everything Happens For A Reason
Prepared for a Purpose by Antoinette Tuff is a fascinating mixture of one woman's horrifying experience with an attempted school shooting and her equally interesting life story both before and after the experience. It is quite amazing how her life experiences before the attempted school shooting helped to defuse a potentially horrid loss of young lives.

This book focuses on the reasons why things happen and how God can use horrible events to save other people's lives or help people in the future. It covers issues such as depression, suicide, divorce and raising a disabled child as well as how her experiences helped her to deal with the gunman at the school.

Personally I found this book more interesting that I thought it would be, mainly due to the back story of the author. The attempted school schooling sections were tense but seemed to linger a bit too long, however the author's story added a lot to the book as a whole and the events at the school.

The narrator was quite good, as it sounded how I thought the author would sound. Initially I thought it was actually the author reading the book. Also she read at a consistent pace and added emotion to the text, which made a compelling story even more interesting.

This book would help anyone who struggling with their purpose in life, dealing with depression or just wondering how God makes bad things work out for good.
