The Women of Easter

Product Review (submitted on May 8, 2017):
This book wasn't entirely what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised! In very Liz Curtis Higgs fashion, she throws her fictionalized possibilities and commentaries into the unknown backstories of some well-known Bible characters in an effort to make them more relatable, I believe. However, she is continuously in the scripture, references verses and teaching truth about these women as well. What pleasantly surprised me, was the large portion of the book that focused solely on Christ and the time leading up to the cross and also the resurrection. What good Easter book could leave that out though?
I enjoyed reading about Martha and Mary and their encounters with Jesus. Higgs pointed out aspects about those encounters that I have never noticed before even though these stories have been read many times.

I highly recommend this book at any time of the year, but it fits beautifully into the season of Lent as we prepare our hearts for Easter.
