Description

"I refused my heart no pleasure" - Solomon, Ecclesiastes 2:10

Why versus Why Not?Why did God place us in a world full of pleasures if we aren't meant to perue them all?

In an imaginative dialogue, Oscar Wilde asks Jesus Christ to respond to this question about critical lifestyle choices. Their talk vividly illustrates the arguments for both sensual pleasure-seeking and moral moderation.

Playwright, dramatist, poet, critic - Wilde openly defied the mores of Victorian society. His literary repartee fueled an "if it feels good, do it" humanistic philosophy that is still prevalent in the world today.

Simon Vance delivers a short biography...
Simon Vance delivers a short biography of dramatist, playwright, and critic Oscar Wilde before he prepares the listener for a creative dialogue between Jesus, Pascal, and Wilde. The pacing is even, the characterization distinctive. Shortly before death, Wilde is transported to a cemetery where he meets with Jesus. Vance voices Wilde's questions to Jesus with empathy and portrays Jesus's answers from Scripture in easy, natural tones of authority laced with deep empathy. Their discussion involves the nature of man, pain, and pleasure and the differences between God's law and grace. With versatility and skill, Vance makes each conversationalist distinct, but naming the speaker is unnecessary, distracting, and takes away from an excellent narrative. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure for...
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure for Intellectuals!

Another winner by Ravi Zacharias in his "Conversations with Jesus" series.
Here Jesus has a conversation with famed English playwright, Oscar Wilde, and at some points French theologian Blaise Pascal, on culture, moral relativism and Truth.
A must for any ethics, philosophy or English literature student or afficianado!
