Here is a tale straight from the fireside. We are compelled to follow the humble and mysterious figure of the linen weaver Silas Marner, on his journey from solitude and exile to the warmth and joy of family life. His path is a strange one; when he loses his hoard of hard-earned coins all seems to be lost, but in place of the golden guineas come the golden curls of a child − and from desolate misery comes triumphant joy.
- Wonderful story! Anna Bentinck's reading made it come alive!
I have always heard of this novel growing up as a child. My mother spoke of it from time to time. I've never taken the time to read it. When this book became available at a discounted price, I took advantage. I'm so glad I did. I have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful tale of Mr. Marner. A story of being wronged and the bitterness that sets in to the heart of a person. And also how that bitterness can be driven away by love! It was so heart-warming! I loved the expert reading of Anna Bentinck. She made every character come alive! I felt as though I was sitting once again in my childhood elementary school library as the librarian, whose name as been robbed from my mind, listening as she wove a wonderful tale characters that I could almost touch. Thank you Anna Bentinck!
