- Great author - BAD reader
I'm loving the Cathy Marie Hake books and started right in on this one. It was excruciating! I just couldn't listen any more. This book is set in Gooding, TX in 1892. The reader has most of the townspeople , including the mayor and his wife, sounding like the most stereotypical backwoods country hicks I've ever heard. I survived 45 minutes or so because I'm thinking the book itself would be good. I just can't do it!! Where in the world was the producer when they released this version?
Feel safe with Stina Nielsen's reading of other Hake books. She does a great job.
