This is the story of Arthur Blessitt who was called by God in the 1960's to minister the hippies, Hell's Angels, runaways, drug addicts, teen prostitutes, flower children, would-be actors and rock stars, and other young people who were part of the emerging youth scene in Hollywood, CA. Answering this call was an important step for him to take. In 1968, his prayers were answered for a meeting place for those he ministered to on the Sunset Strip which became know as "His Place".
Furnished with leftover materials from a local electric company, an "old rugged cross" took center stage profoundly attracting attendees and changing lives. Later that year, while prayer early one morning, Blessitt sensed God saying to him: "I want you to take the cross that is hanging in His Place and carry it across America."
That was the beginning of an incredible journey of faith that has lasted over 38 years and has led Arthur Blessitt to travel around the world in almost 290 nations and island groups to share the love of Jesus Christ.
- Horrible theology..."led of the LORD" eventually to divorce the wife of his children. Bad example. It is not an encouragement, but discouragement. Very unhappy we spent the points on this one.
Horrible...it started out well. We were listening to this as a family with our three younger children and suddenly there is a shift in the story about how he divorces his wife as though it were justified before GOD because they "agreed". Even my 11 year old jumped up in shock and was like, "let's get this thing off the computer." We researched his life and were shocked that he divorced his wife in order to marry another woman he met on one of his trips. The only good thing was that we had just studied through Malachi in our family Bible time and had read, "GOD hates divorce..." and don't "deal treacherously with the wife of your youth." We all agreed and my 11 year old erased it from the computer. We all prayed together and prayed for this man to repent of his casual attitude. We were horrified to realize the "wife" he so loved was actually not the wife of his children, but a woman he met later and felt "led of the LORD" to divorce his wife to marry the new one. This was not GOD's leading this is deception and from the evil one. What a bummer!
- Love them in
A real life of how to be an evangelist with God's power by loving people. We need to love people like this.
