Like every other hobbit, Bilbo Baggins likes nothing better than a quiet evening in his snug hole in the ground, dining on a sumptuous dinner in front of a fire. But when a wandering wizard captivates him with tales of the unknown, Bilbo becomes restless. Soon he joins the wizard’s band of homeless dwarves in search of giant spiders, savage wolves, and other dangers. Bilbo quickly tires of the quest for adventure and longs for the security of his familiar home. But before he can return to his life of comfort, he must face the greatest threat of all—a treasure-troving dragon named Smaug. In his fantasy classic, master storyteller J.R.R. Tolkien creates a bewitching world filled with delightful creatures and thrilling dangers. Narrator Rob Inglis will hold listeners of all ages spellbound with his skillful portrayal of hobbits, dwarves, and enchanted beasts.

- Amazing audiobook

Classic narration of a classic story. I remember listening to this version over and over when I was a kid. It’s timeless and worth any price.

- A great book - so much better than the movie
-
Do not judge this book by the movie! It deserves an independent reading/listening. You and your children should enjoy this as a story, not a movie. Watch The Hobbit be both a very ordinary person and a very heroic one at the same time.
Overall - A Fun Adventure!
-
This is not a Christian story (though there is certainly the theme of good vs. evil), but is a wonderful story to enjoy! The narrator is very talented and does an amazing job with fun voices and accents, and he even sings all the songs.

Good book but very difficult to listen to via an Android device. An app for Android would help greatly!
Overall - The Easiest Tolkien Audiobook to Listen to!
-
This is probably the easiest audiobook to follow in J.R.R. Tolkien's world. The characters shine through and the reader does a great job with the character's voices. A great read!
Overall - Great book, read terrifically!

We already had the Lord of the Rings recordings (same reader) and loved them. And Tolkien has been part of our family long before the first movies were made. This was a great book, read terrifically. I'm glad we purchased it.
Overall - Great book. Glad I got it.

Loved it!
Overall - Great for Tolkien fans!
-
I am a real Tolkien fan, and I think Robert Inglis did a great job reading this book and the other books by Tolkien that he has done. Other readers might have brought more drama to the reading, sure, so I would not call his reading outstanding. But it is great, and those who love Tolkien will get great pleasure in this rendition of the book. I definitely recommend it for Tolkien fans and for those who love this kind of story. [BTW, the movies coming out by Peter Jackson, while great in their own merit, do not completely follow the book, though he brings out some backstory in the movie version that is not brought out in the book -- plus he adds some things. FYI]
Overall - Just not my thing

I don't know, I just didn't enjoy it. I know it is a famous story, but it didn't appeal to me.
Overall - Great Narration!

It is great to read this book and then listen to the audio. Robert Inglis did a marvelous job with not only the characters voices, but singing the songs as well. I highly recommend this title to any who love The Lord of the Rings and adventure stories.
