The Kingdom of the Cults has been the authoritative reference work on major cult systems for more than forty years. In an era of rapid cult growth worldwide, Christians today need the information in this book more than ever. It will equip readers from every walk of life to use biblical truth to counter the efforts of cults to masquerade as mainstream Christianity.
Working closely together, Ravi Zacharias and managing editors Jill and Kevin Rische have updated and augmented the work with new material. This book will continue as a crucial tool in countercult ministry and in evangelism for years to come. Among cults and religions included are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, New Age cults, the Unification Church, Baha’i Faith, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.
Readable and reliable, this book sets the standard for reference books on cults.
- Great educational book
A very long book, but very comprehensive and educational. A great overview of Christian apologietics.
- Warning: reference material
I really wanted this book ever since I read reviews on it, but I debated over and over between getting it as a print book--which I would never have time to read through--or an audiobook---which might not be ideal since it can't be skipped around as a reference book so easily. After listening to half of it, I can conclude I had made the wrong decision. The book is great for reference in my opinion. It has lots of great detail on major religions and after explaining a little about how cults are similar in the ways they distort and confuse Christianity, it goes right into the first one, tells of its origins, problems with its founders, inconsistencies in its statements and exercise, and examples of how it alters Christian principles and distorts/misinterprets the scripture. It is so very clear in the way it states it; and it's non-judgements. It's just the facts so that if you are in favor of one of them, you can check out the documents, principles, history and manuscripts yourself. Great research and info, but a bore to listen through. Mainly because I was unaware of many of them an ddoubt I will meet someone involved with them, I just don't want to hear the ins and outs of all this one religion's aspects. And the chapters are not clearly marked in the book so the religions I am interested in, I cannot jump to. I have to listen to 4 or 5 tracks worth of Mormonism before I get to Christian Science... Because of the difficulty of navigation, I wouldn't recommend this as an audiobook unless you have a general interest in the cults and would be happy listening to everything. (I tried to mark topics as I went, but bookmarks were lost in malfunctions with the app :o( )
- Great info
Five stars for the material but 2 STARS for Ravi. Such a great man but his Mormon appearance as well as the talk show circuit appearances have really detracted from what I think God was using him for. Fame should be feared by all I guess. Material in book is good.
