Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she's British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook's friend Justin uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea to the estate of her supposed family. The mystery of her mother's death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook's life is threatened do they draw close-but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother. As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together? And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession-and this time only the servants of Whitby can save her.

Very well done!
The Lost Heiress
By Rosanna M. White
Set in early 1900s, Monaco in the beginning, the rest in Whitby, England

Brook Eden was taken in by a French singer when she was a baby due to an accident that killed her mother. Brook has always believed this was her mother, and that she was French. There were secrets the singer kept all Brook's life surrounding this accident and about her natural mother.

A boy, Justin Whildon, several years older, became her lifelong friend. They're both quite fond of each other, but because of his title he must always think of her more like a sister. His duty is to someday marry a woman of title as well.

As an adult, Brook found out she was not who she thought she was, and that Justin found out who she was…an English heiress whose natural father has never stopped looking for her since her disappearance as a newborn.

Justin brings her to her new home in Whitby, England where, because of her astonishing resemblance to her mother, was immediately taken in as a part of the family. Nothing could refute her identity, and her true father was ecstatic. He finally had his daughter back.

But troubling nightmares of a dark, stormy night, and fear create the sense that something dangerous is likely to happen; that secrets, and greed, threats and betrayal are looming, all surrounding something others want, and believe they have a right to.

Along with all this intrigue, we have the building love between Brook and Justin, love neither seem able to acknowledge.

A host of other characters, most of which you almost immediately know are good guys or bad guys, enter her life. The favored being Brice Worthing…friendly, funny, a good sport and a true friend, and a seeming competitor for Brook's affections.

The faith aspect of this book was not just an added few sentences, to make it Christian Fiction. This was something a number of characters took quite seriously. Quoting Scripture, trusting God, many people praying and the mention of the Lord are throughout the book. It was good to see so many people relying on their faith and speaking openly about it.

Just keeping Brook out of danger throughout the book seems to be a full time job because she's a free spirit, impetuous, and takes matters into her own hands without telling people what's really going on. But, she is loveable, and wins everyone's hearts… except the greedy ones you'll enjoy reading about within this very interesting audiobook I highly recommend.
