The Power and Freedom of a Humble Life
Pride is often the true reason why we get our feelings hurt, why we feel rejection, why we won’t admit to mistakes, why we want to be seen with certain people, and why we stay angry.
Jesus gives us the perfect example of a powerful life lived without conceit, smugness, or arrogance. So why do we not want to admit to our pride? It is because of our pride!
In The Power of Humility, R. T. Kendall challenges us to look deeply into our hearts and motives to recognize the pride and self-righteousness there. Using personal stories and enlightening examples from the Bible, he demonstrates how pride interferes with a close relationship with God and reveals how to overcome pride and become more like Jesus.
- life impacting
I had written a previous bad review titled "Rather Boring". That was the first encounter I have had with RT Kendall and the reader Shaun Grindell. Later, after asking God which book I should read next, I read 'Prepare Your Heart for the Midnight Cry' by the same author. I was struck by the weight of truth and experience that RT Kendall has, that I haven't seen in any living preacher. After that I read many of RT Kendall's books including 'Pigeon Religion', 'Holy Fire', and 'It Aint Over till it's Over'. They all impacted my life and Christian view. So I went back to read this one, and found it to be just as excellent as the other books by Kendall. I have never read a book on humility like this one, so full of practical truth. Most of Kendall's books are read by Shaun Grindell, and I find that he reads with the spirit of the author.
- rather boring
I thought the book was rather boring and mostly uninspired. I did not finish it. The reader is stiff. The author mostly goes through various stories in the Bible and states the obvious.
- Loved this book!
I really enjoyed listening to this book! I loved the author's honesty, knowledge of the Scriptures and different Christian men's lives and candor about the subject. It was very easy to understand. The author is a very well known and respected author among many Christian circles. Overall this audio book is very helpful to me.

- Thanks for Transparency
I was amazed at this book, for many aspects relate to my own "life story". Thanks to Dr. Kendall for this transparency in his own life. His spirit is so transparent that I found the Holy Spirit dealing directly with my own heart! Thank you Dr. Kendall!
- This book is worth reading.
This book will change the way you think about humility. I learned a lot from this book, and now I have a better understanding of humility
- Impactful, great book
I loved this book. It's conversational and enjoyable to listen to. It was timely for me, as I've been contemplating and doing battle with my pride lately. The author talks about the title and the many ways he struggled with it, including his own lack of humility. It's sabot not just humility but so much of what prevents us from being humble. It's been several days since finished it and I still find myself thinking about it. Such a blessing! I think my prayers and my relationships have been impacted. Time will tell. I look forward to a second listen down the road.
