- too short! Premise is FANTASTIC!
I really liked the book. The premise of this book is fantastic! Character qualities are spotlighted in uniques ways and serve to advance the central character's character. Another aspect of the plot is that the antagonist is also the protagonist and the protagonist serves as the antagonist. It is a battle of self served up by a dead guy who is making life uncomfortable for the living with the intention of making the living guy a better guy.
Every parent should read this to their kids. If you are traveling to a relative's home for a Christmas or holiday celebration, then you should make your kids turn off all electronic devises and listen to this book. It has a real message that needs to be heard by every child. Unfortunately I saw the 2006 movie by the same name starring James Garner, before I listened to the audiobook. I noticed that Hollywood took several liberties with the plot (not always a bad thing). I would also encourage watching the movie after listening to or reading the book.
